Silicon Moulding
Our in-house Silicon moulding capabilities can take a single master form, either supplied as an original by the client or created from 3D information supplied by the client, and turn it into a series of multiples. Silicon moulding is so termed because a mould is made from an object by pouring flexible silicon around it. Polyurethane resin is poured into the mould and left to harden.
The nature of the Silicon moulding process means that even the smallest detail on the original is also present on the duplicate. Parts can be poured as rigid or flexible, in any custom colour, opaque or clear, and in some metallics and pearlescents.
When designing for Silicon moulding, undercuts must be minimised so that the part is able to be released from the mould. Silicon moulds output, on average, around 15 parts each before a new mould is required.
